About Das

Das completed an Integrated master’s degree in mathematics and computing at the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, India. His interest in quantum computing grew from an early fascination with cryptography, but it was discovering the BB84 quantum key distribution protocol that transformed his perspective on the field.

As Das explains, the idea that security could be guaranteed by the laws of physics rather than computational hardness was particularly compelling. This curiosity led him to explore the connections between quantum information, computation, and real-world applications, ultimately motivating him to pursue research in quantum technologies.

“The idea that security could be guaranteed by the laws of physics, rather than computational hardness, was fascinating.”

Current Research Journey

Das was attracted to the FLiQC scholarship because of its strong emphasis on industry collaboration. During his master’s studies, he worked closely with Tata Consultancy Services on quantum computing research, gaining valuable experience applying theoretical concepts to industry-relevant challenges.

Since relocating to Australia, Das has enjoyed exploring Perth and becoming part of the FLiQC community. He says that “working alongside diverse research groups has been really enriching,” and looks forward to contributing to research in quantum optimisation and quantum signal processing through the Centre’s collaborative environment.
